Hi.  I am Jan Cibulka.  I teach Language Arts in the middle school at Green Park and am looking forward to an awesome school year.

I was born and raised in St. Louis.  I am a proud graduate of Green Park Lutheran School and Lutheran High School South.  Outside of school I enjoy spending time with my family.  My husband John is currently a student again, studying Cardiac Sonography.  Our daughter, Lexi is 19, and is a sophomore at SIU Edwardsville.  She keeps busy studying to become a teacher and playing on the university’s volleyball team.  Our oldest son, Austin is 18, and a senior in high school.  He plays basketball for his school and is looking forward to graduation this spring and moving on to college next fall to study engineering.  Caden is our youngest child, who is 7 and in first grade.  He keeps us busy and loves playing soccer, basketball and baseball.  He is also looking forward to beginning Tiger Scouts this year.  As a family we love to watch the Cardinals.  Our favorite place to visit is Breckenridge, Colorado in the summer.  We love to eat at Dewey’s pizza and it is always a treat for us to enjoy some Mexican food at Chava’s in Soulard.

I graduated from Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville with a bachelor’s degree in special education.  My master’s degree is from the University of Missouri St. Louis in elementary education, and  I received my colloquy from Concordia River Forest (Chicago).  My first year of teaching was at House Springs and Maple Grove Elementary in the Northwest School District.  After that I taught for Lutheran Association of Special Education in the resource room at Holy Cross Lutheran in St. Louis for four wonderful years. The second Lutheran school that I taught at was Green Park, where I began teaching in the resource room.  I moved to sixth grade in 2002, where I still presently teach.  My days are filled with teaching English to a great group of sixth, seventh and eighth graders.  I also coach sixth grade volleyball and am the Assistant Athletic Director at Green Park.

My favorite bible verse is:  Isaiah 40:31 “…but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength.  They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.”
