Congratulations to Allison Maschhoff 1st place, Justin Schuster 2nd place and Courtney Kolnik 3rd place! The three Green Park 8th graders were recognized on Wednesday, February 19, by the Mehlville Optimist Club. The students submitted 700-800 word essays on “How Dreams Lead to Success”. The moving essays included stories of grandparents and heroes making something of nothing. These winners read their work aloud for the club and family to hear. All three students received Visa gift cards and recognition, Allison’s essay has now been submitted in a district wide contest with the potential for a $2,500 scholarship.

“Just want to say once again how much we appreciate the initiative you took in our contest. In talking to a couple of the judges after the contest, they confessed that picking out the top three was extremely difficult. All the submissions were very good and there was very little separation between any of the papers. In other words, they were all winners which you and your students have every right to feel very proud of their accomplishments. It also speaks very well of how Green Park is preparing our future leaders.”
